Safe enough, if you know what the fakes look like and you use the tools. No dating site is free of fake profiles, BBW sites included, and anyone who says theirs is has something to sell you. What you can do is spot them early. Here's what they look like, how the common scams play out, and what BBW Connex actually does about them.
Fakes aren't usually clever. They follow a handful of patterns, and once you've seen them you'll keep seeing them.
The polished nobody. A smooth, pleasant bio with a star sign, a height, and a line about seeing where the night goes. Nothing about a job, a town, a dog or a bad habit, because real people write about their lives, often badly. What to do: ask something specific about what she wrote, which a fake can't answer.
The empty template. Just the site's default sentence about age and region, and nothing else. Sometimes it names a town that isn't where the profile says she lives. What to do: skip it, or wait until there's more.
The same paragraph, different names. A bio you'd swear you've read before, because you have, word for word, on a profile in another city. What to do: report it. One person behind several accounts is rarely up to anything good.
The mistress formula. She wants a man to serve her, and it comes round quickly to gifts, allowances or a wishlist. That's not a kink profile. It's a payment request. What to do: move on, and report it if money comes up.
The forever-love profile. On a casual site, it's all about finding the one, often in slightly odd English, with a list of lovely adjectives. By message three she's very fond of you. What to do: slow right down. That kind of speed is how romance scams start.
The WhatsApp push. Friendly, keen, and asking to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or Snapchat almost straight away. Off the site, there's no moderation and no report button. What to do: stay on the site's messages until you've actually got to know her.
The advert. A profile or message that points you to another site, a link, or a paid page, or talks about "sessions". What to do: report it. Commercial profiles don't belong here.
This one is common enough to get its own section.
It starts well. She's friendly, flirty, and keen to meet. But first, for safety, she needs you to get verified.
She sends a link to a verification site that looks official and asks for your name, phone number, email and card details. Some even have news articles about dating safety on them.
There's no verification. The card details get used to sign you up for expensive recurring subscriptions, often to other dating sites you've never heard of, and your personal details are now in the wrong hands.
BBW Connex never asks for a dating ID, a pass, or verification through an outside link. Anyone who does is running this scam. Block and report them, and if you've already entered card details, call your bank.
The slow scams are harder to spot, because they don't ask for anything at first.
There's a lot of attention. Messages several times a day, lots of warmth, plans for the future. There's also a reason you can't meet yet: working abroad, on a rig, deployed, stuck somewhere.
Then comes a problem. A hospital bill, a visa fee, a ticket to come and see you, a bank account that's frozen. Sometimes it's an opportunity instead, like a crypto investment she's made good money on and wants to help you with.
The payment is always something hard to reverse: gift cards, a payment app, a wire transfer, crypto.

A faster version targets men directly. Someone sends explicit photos, asks for yours, then threatens to send them to your family or boss unless you pay. Paying rarely ends it, because it tells them you will. Stop replying, keep screenshots, report the profile, and report it to the police if the threats continue.
None of this means you're on your own. Here's what happens on the site, rather than a promise that it's safe.
Every photo and video is checked by a moderator before it goes live. The main profile photo has to show your face or body, can't include contact details or other people who could be recognised, and has to match the profile.
Explicit photos and videos need an ID check first. They aren't published until the ID has been accepted. The ID itself is never shown anywhere on the site.
The Verified badge means a moderator has checked the member's photo, either against a photo ID or through admin verification. With VIP, you can filter search to show only Verified members (what free and VIP include).
Contact details can't go on profiles or public areas. Numbers and handles can only be shared privately in messages, and profiles that post them get failed or edited.
Block & Report is on every profile and message, under the three dots. Reports are anonymous, and screenshots help the team act on them.
A badge isn't a character reference, though. Verified means the photo matches the person. It doesn't tell you whether they're good company. Keep your own judgment switched on.
